Amazon will reportedly have 15,000 PS5 consoles available soon

Since the presentation of the PlayStation 5 in November 2020, the console has been in short supply. Time and again, isolated contingents show up at retailers, but they are sold out very quickly. Now Amazon has announced the PS5’s availability soon.

While Sony is already selling a new version of the PS5 in Australia, the original version of the game console isn’t even really available in this country. However, according to insider information, Amazon is said to have received a total of 15,000 of the current game consoles. 10,000 are said to be the model with a drive, and the remaining 5,000 are apparently the digital edition of the PS5.

PS5 on Amazon: Do Prime members have priority?

There is currently confusion about an addition on Amazon’s PS5 product pages. As recently as this morning, the sentence “Prime members have priority access to the PlayStation 5” could be read there. In the meantime, however, the note has disappeared. So it remains to be seen whether Amazon really gives its Prime members priority when buying the PS5 – similar to the Prime Day offers.

It is also not yet clear when the retailer will actually start the sale. The last time Amazon offered the PS5 was in mid-July. The PS5 with the drive was available for 499.99 Euros, the Digital Edition for 399.99 Euros. There are already tickers on the Internet that report on the current status of the new sales campaign. Observers expect that Amazon could start the sale at any moment. Usually, offers of this kind are released by the retailer during the week and in the course of the early morning until mid-morning. So a regular update of the product pages is worthwhile for those who want to secure a PS5 on Amazon.

Availability of the PS5 a disaster

The console was already hyped in the run-up to the presentation of the PlayStation 5 almost a year ago. Fans from all over the world waited eagerly for the update. However, many of them were disappointed because the PS5 was not available at all in many places. The shortage continues to this day. As early as May 2021, Sony said that they would not be able to keep up with production – a gloomy picture of PS5 availability was painted.

In the meantime, however, the console is available from time to time at individual retailers. Whether buyers get it, however, is a real gamble. The offers from mail-order company Otto and Euronics this week were sold out within minutes. That will probably also be the case with the PS5 sale on Amazon.

Considering Sony’s statement and the information available to us, we cannot currently assume that the availability of the current PlayStation will change that quickly. more on this in our TECH Talk:
