After the free PlayStation games were reliably leaked in advance in the past months, this is now also the case for July. According to the leak, there are once again three games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. So those who have a PS Plus subscription can probably download the titles for free from the beginning of July.
The free PlayStation Plus games in July 2022.
In July, PS Plus subscribers can once again enjoy three titles. Among them is the sequel to a real classic as well as a very new title. But what are the games worth? atechbook has summarized reviews and player ratings.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s about Time (PS4 + PS5)
A sequel to the popular PS1 series, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s about Time delivers an all-new, colorful adventure featuring the ex-PlayStation mascot. Villain Dr. Neo Cortex returns in this installment, opening portals through time and dimensions for Crash and Coco. Both the general design, which has of course been spiced up a bit, and the level design are clearly based on the original. Among other things, players can look forward to new abilities for the protagonists.
The modernized nostalgia bomb was well received by critics and gamers alike. A Metascore of 85 and lots of reviews prove that. In general, many are happy that the old series is being breathed back into life with the 4th part. If you want to play “Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s about Time” on the PlayStation, you have to pay 19.95 Euros. So you can save money with the PS Plus promotion.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan (PS4)
A group of five vacationers come across a mysterious ghost ship in the South Seas. On board they get to deal with all kinds of supernatural horror. There they not only have to survive, but also solve a lot of riddles. “Man of Medan” is part of “The Dark Pictures Anthology” anthology with three parts so far – a fourth is planned for this year. The horror action adventure game is strongly oriented towards “Until Dawn” from the same developer studio.
Overall, opinions on “The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan” differ somewhat. While the PC version received positive reviews, the PlayStation version doesn’t look quite as good. On the plus side, there are beautiful graphics and atmospheric, well-placed horror. PlayStation users, however, complain about the somewhat stiff controls. For that, it gets a Metascore of 69.
Arcadegeddon (PS4 + PS5)
With “Arcadegeddon”, PS Plus subscribers can look forward to a fairly new title. The villain in the varied world is a large corporation. Alone or with three other players, you have to explore the game world, participate in PvP events and diligently collect loot in boss fights.
The colorful shooter didn’t actually appear until April 2022, and the overarching PS4 and PS5 release for the PlayStation is at the beginning of July. Until now, the game was only available via Early Access for 19.99 Euros; from the beginning of July, non-subscribers will also have to pay 29.99 Euros. The long test phase gives us hope that we can look forward to a light-hearted, nicely tweaked co-op shooter.
PlayStation Plus Collection free for PS5 customers
Since the PlayStation 5 has been available since the end of 2020, the currently offered PS Plus games also apply to the new console. However, Sony is going one better and giving all PS5 buyers the Plus Collection with a whole 20 games, including some smash hits.
The collection is supposed to be a basis for owners of the new console, for which there are not very many new titles yet. The games are available for free download and can be played as long as PS Plus is subscribed.
