The iPhone has a handy function that takes additional pictures before and after a photo. This can be used to create not only photos with effects, but also videos.
If Live Photos are turned on, iPhone will take a series of pictures and pick the best one. But the other pictures are kept, so you can choose another one from the shot. But this also allows Live Photos to apply certain effects, such as long exposure and infinite loop. But that’s not all. Live Photos can also be converted into videos.
Save live photos as videos
Since live photos are basically just a string of several image captures, they hardly differ from videos. The iPhone even always records sound in addition to the photos. In this combination, Live Photos can easily be turned into videos of about two seconds.
1. Open the Photos app and select a Live Photo you want to convert.
2. press the send button in the control bar at the bottom left.
3. Scroll down and select the Save as Video option.
4. Now a new, two-second video appears in the Photos app.

What is the quality of videos created from photos?
After conversion, the small video clips have a format of 1308 to 1744 pixels. This corresponds to a 4:3 ratio and is full HD resolution. So, at 30 frames per second (FPS), the clips correspond to medium video recording quality on the iPhone – between 720p (HD) and 4K.
The conversion function is handy, for example, if you caught something interesting in a photo and want to relive the event. Videos are also useful for creating short travel films or similar, as they can sometimes tell more than photos.
