New design for in-app notifications on WhatsApp

WhatsApp regularly adjusts minor or major things with Messenger. The latest change, which is currently in the test phase, concerns in-app notifications.

In-app notifications are elongated windows at the top of the screen. An in-app notification is triggered, for example, when you have just opened WhatsApp and another contact writes. WhatsApp itself also sends such notifications. For example, when you log in to WhatsApp Web.

New design of in-app notifications on WhatsApp

The new look of in-app notifications on WhatsApp is noticeable when communicating with contacts. That’s because the bar that WhatsApp is currently testing features two changes. First, it now displays sent pictures directly on the right edge. Until now, users only received a notification with the message “Photo”.

The second new feature is also related to this. On the other hand, the new bar can also be expanded. If you tap the in-app notification on WhatsApp for a longer time, a preview window opens. WhatsApp users are already familiar with this preview view from the messenger’s push notifications. The advantage of the preview window in both cases is that messages or, in the new case, photos can be viewed without a read confirmation going out (if activated). How can you try out the new design?

The new design has so far only been reserved for WhatsApp beta testers on the iPhone. There, the feature is rolled out to all users who download version 2.21.140.9. By the way, potentially anyone can become a WhatsApp beta tester. On iOS, you download the Testflight app from the App Store and check whether there are still free spots. If there are, then you can start. As a beta tester, however, you have to expect that the unfinished updates can also cause problems.
