New Xiaomi smartphone charges the battery faster than all others

Xiaomi launches two new smartphones that even stand out among the upper-range models. Especially the Pro model of the 11T series offers some special features. atechbook introduces the two newcomers.

The new 5G smartphones from Xiaomi bear the names 11T and 11T Pro and offer some highlights for a comparatively low price. The manufacturer offers both models in Germany. What they have to offer in detail can be read below.

Display and design

Visually, the Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro are twins. Both feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED dot display that is completely curvature-free. The screen offers an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz for a particularly smooth display, which should benefit gamers in particular. The resolution is also the same for both and is 2400 x 1080 pixels. With up to 1000 nits, the display brightness can also be adjusted upwards, according to Xiaomi.

The devices run Android 11 ex-factory, including Xiaomi’s in-house interface Mi UI 12.5. Access to the smartphone is protected by a fingerprint sensor on the side. Unlocking via PIN or alternatively facial recognition via the 16-megapixel front-facing camera in the perforated notch is also possible.

Processor differences

The 10 fastest smartphones in the world

The same applies to the Snapdragon 888 with its Qualcomm X60 modem. The chip is a bit more compact than Mediatek’s thanks to its 5-nanometer design and also relies on a different architecture. The main core here is the Cortex-X1 with up to 2.84 GHz. The “Prime Core” provides an enormous performance boost that even surpasses the very good performance of the three Cortex-A78 cores with up to 2.42 GHz. For regulated and energy-saving operation, the Snapdragon 888 also has four Cortex-A55 cores with up to 1.8 GHz.

Identische Memory ausstattung

Xiaomi offers both the 11T and the 11T Pro with 8 GB of RAM. The internal storage has a capacity of 128 GB or 256 GB depending on the version. However, it cannot be expanded, which is a minus point for both new smartphones. Instead of a memory card slot, Xiaomi relies on a second SIM card slot and thus on the dual-SIM feature. Both slots support mobile Internet via 4G as well as 5G. WLAN ax (Wifi 6), NFC and Bluetooth 5.2 are also on board.

Kamera des Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro in comparison

The rear cameras of both new smartphones do not differ visually. The design is also almost the same. Only the main sensor is where Xiaomi makes small differences between the 11T and the 11T Pro.

Beide Geräte bieten eine Triple camera, also insgesamt drei Sensoren.

The other two sensors are identical in both models. There is an ultra-wide-angle with 8 megapixels, f/2.2 aperture and a field of view of 120 degrees after all. A 5-megapixel telephoto macro completes the trio. Xiaomi has expanded the camera software with features like an AI Cinema Mode, HDR10+ and Smart ISO technology. The smartphones record movies in a maximum of 8K.

Battery and outstanding charging technology

Let’s move on to the battery and thus to one of the most outstanding features of one of the new smartphones. The Xiaomi 11T already shows itself well-equipped here, even if not extremely flashy. It has a 5000 mAh battery that can be charged quickly thanks to 67 watts. According to the manufacturer, the battery can be charged from 0 to 100 in about 36 minutes via cable. Features like wireless charging are unfortunately missing from the model, though.

The Xiaomi 11T Pro goes one better and comes with Fast Charging with a whopping 120 watts. This allows the 5000 mAh battery to be fully charged in just 17 minutes. According to Xiaomi, it is the first smartphone worldwide to be launched with the company’s proprietary 120W HyperCharge technology. The Mi Mix 4, which will be unveiled in August 2021, also supports the charging standard, but its market launch is only planned in China.

The Xiaomi 11T with 128 GB storage costs 549.90 Euros, the version with 256 GB storage 599.90 Euros. On the other hand, the manufacturer charges 649.90 Euros (128 GB) and 699.90 Euros (256 GB) for the Pro model. Both models will be available in stores from October 1. However, pre-orders are already possible now.

Unlike many other manufacturers, Xiaomi does not do without accessories for the 11T and 11T Pro. A power adapter with 67 watts and 120 watts, a charging cable, a USB C to jack adapter, and a protective case are included with the devices.

Editor’s assessment

With the 11T and the 11T, Xiaomi has introduced two really interesting 5G smartphones that can convince in some points. Thanks to up-to-date processors, they promise good performance, run the latest Android 11, and offer a good camera and battery configuration. Especially the Pro model can convince in the latter point. The price is also particularly pleasing. 550 to 700 Euros for such equipped smartphones is not expensive compared with many other manufacturers. Especially since Xiaomi even supplies some accessories. However, users also have to make compromises. The storage cannot be expanded and wireless charging is not available. Those who can get over that will certainly find a good companion in the Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro, which still has to prove itself in a detailed review.
