Samsung, Huawei and Co. show these innovations at MWC 2022

This year, for the first time after the Corona pandemic, the MWC will take place again at the usual time in Barcelona. Numerous manufacturers from the mobile industry will show their latest devices and developments on site. atechbook summarizes which innovations we can look forward to.

Officially, the Mobile World Congress runs from February 28 to March 03, 2022, but manufacturers are already starting on Sunday with the first press events. This year’s MWC 2022 is a colorful mix of on-site events and online broadcasts. Manufacturers like Samsung, Huawei, Honor, OnePlus, but also Amazon and Google as well as some network operators will be there.

But what can we expect at Europe’s biggest mobile tech show? atechbook gives a preview.

Smart Office Launch from Huawei

Huawei is one of the first exhibitors to present its latest products at MWC 2022 in a major press conference. It starts on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. both on site and online. The event will be led by company CEO Richard Yu and is themed “Smart Office Launch”. Thus, we can assume that Huawei will mainly focus on accessory products, which include monitors, smartwatches, and headphones. This division is becoming increasingly important for the Chinese manufacturer in Europe, since Huawei is not allowed to offer Google services on its smartphones due to the still ongoing US ban. The phones are still being sold in this country, but they are not selling very well.

In the run-up, Huawei has announced the presentation of a “super device” at MWC 2022. In addition, the company wants to inform about its plans for 2022. Based on the motto, it can be assumed that Huawei will also show the further development of Harmony OS and its Huawei Mobile Services (HMS). More and more manufacturers are connecting the smartphone system with the desktop to enable better hybrid working.

Samsung shows new laptops at MWC 2022

Samsung already presented the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 series at an Unpacked event on February 9. However, the manufacturer will also be present with new devices at MWC 2022. The invitation for the press event shows a smartwatch, tablets and smartphones as well as a laptop. Since Samsung has already presented its new smartphones and tablets, as well as innovations for the Galaxy Watch, that leaves new laptops.

It can thus be assumed that Samsung will present new Galaxy Books and the matching One UI Book 4 interface at MWC 2022. The website “Giznext” already has first information and pictures of a Galaxy Book Pro 2 360, a laptop with a 360-degree tiltable display and Intel processor. However, some also expect another smartphone, the Galaxy A53. The latter would continue Samsung’s so popular mid-range series.

Samsung’s press event will take place on Sunday, February 27, starting at 7 pm.

Honor with new smartphones

Honor split off from Huawei in November 2020 and has been operating independently ever since. This has the advantage that the company is not affected by the US embargo and has no restrictions on chip technology and Google services. Via Twitter, the company announced its latest flagship, the Honor Magic 4. Unlike the predecessor, the new smartphone is to be available globally. Under the motto “The Power of Magic”, the presentation will take place on February 28 at 1 pm.

It is also conceivable that Honor will announce the global launch of the Magic V during the event. So far, the manufacturer’s first foldable smartphone is only available in China.

Poco brings two mid-range smartphones to MWC 2022

At the same time as Honor, i.e. on February 28 at 1 p.m., the Poco brand, which belongs to Xiaomi, will also hold its press event. However, Poco has already revealed the new devices that can be seen. On the one hand, there is the Poco X4 Pro 5G and on the other hand, the Poco M4 Pro. Both smartphones belong to the mid-range.

AVM with new Fritzbox and Fritz!OS 7.50

For several years now, Berlin-based router manufacturer AVM has been taking part in the show. Already on Thursday, the company revealed via press release which novelties it will show at MWC 2022. On the one hand, there is the new Fritzbox 5590 Fiber for fiber-optic connections, which we have already reported on. On the other hand, there is a preview of the upcoming major Fritz!OS 7.50.

AVM itself refrains from a press conference. The new and already known products can only be seen at the booth.

OnePlus shows OnePlus 10 Pro 5G

OnePlus has also been invited to MWC 2022, but it concentrates on its booth. Here, visitors can take a look at the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G, which the manufacturer already presented at the beginning of the year and whose market launch in Germany is planned for this spring. The smartphone has a camera with Hasselblad branding, has a 6.7-inch OLED display with 120 Hz, and is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It remains to be seen whether OnePlus has more innovations in store.

Innovations from Google, Telekom and Co.

Away from product launches, however, we can also expect numerous announcements about new software, technologies, and more at MWC 2022. For example, Deutsche Telekom will broadcast its “Magenta Keynote” live from Barcelona on February 28 starting at 12:30 pm. Here, the network operator will reveal news on the topic of artificial intelligence, deal with 5G as well as sustainable technology and show an exclusive preview of the newly arranged “Angels” ballad by Robbie Williams.

From Google, we expect topics around Android. For example, the update to Android 12L for the first smartphones and tablets is expected in time for MWC 2022. Google has developed Android 12 primarily for larger devices like foldables and tablets. The system brings features like split-screen specifically for them.

Smartphone manufacturer Realme is not only planning the European launch of the Realme GT 2 Pro for the trade show, the company will probably also present a new charging technology. With 200 watts, the new charger is supposed to be the fastest in the world so far.

atechbook will follow the show for you and report on all important announcements from February 27.
