What else will Apple show at its September event besides the new iPhone?

Apple will most likely present the iPhone 13 at the event on September 14. However, other devices could also be presented. atechbook gives an assessment.

The date for Apple’s September event is set. On Tuesday, the company sent out AR invitations that include the date “9.14”. According to the name, the event with the motto “California streaming” will again take place purely virtually in Apple Park. It is practically certain that the iPhone 13 will be presented. A launch date for iOS 15 is also expected.

atechbook almost summarizes what else Apple could present at the September event – and how likely a launch next week actually is.

Apple Watch 7

The new version of the Apple Watch is supposed to get a fundamentally new design for the first time. According to leaks, Apple is planning an angular case to be visually in line with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. So far, the Apple Watch has had rounded edges – these are now to be flat. The same applies to the display glass, which will lose its curvature and also become flat. Thanks to new lamination, the display could also grow closer to the glass cover.

Despite the space savings due to flat edges, however, leaked information shows that the case itself is growing. Accordingly, the Apple Watch 7 could be available in 41 mm and 45 mm sizes. So far, the smartwatch is available with 40 mm and 44 mm case sizes. It is unclear whether the existing wristbands are compatible with the new model.

Apart from a stacked S7 processor for longer battery life, hardly anything will change inside the watch. We will probably have to do without new sensors for blood sugar measurement.

The presentation of the Apple Watch 7 at the September event is not unlikely. However, “Nikkei Asia” recently reported that Apple has stopped production for the time being due to problems with assembling the new components.

AirPods 3

Apple has already introduced the AirPods Max over-ear headphones this year. But rumors about a successor to the original AirPods have been swirling for a long time. The current, second generation has already been on the market since March 2019. We already expected the presentation in April. But according to a report from “Nikkei Asia”, it could finally be that time. The industry insider writes that production could have been running since August.

The design of the new AirPods is unfortunately not finally known. Leaks from different sources show the Earbuds with flexible ear tips, sometimes without. However, they are supposed to be visually similar to the AirPods Pro. That means an elongated casing and a shorter stem. The charging case would have to be a bit wider and shorter accordingly. Leakers also disagree about the feature set. Some reports assume that the AirPods 3 will have active noise cancelling (ANC). However, since Apple would compete with its own, higher-priced AirPods Pro with this, this information should be taken with a grain of salt.

A new chip inside could improve battery life and connectivity stability. It is also likely that the AirPods 3 will be operated via the stem, just like the AirPods Pro.
